Learn the impacts of recreation on your personal wellness, mind, and body. Participants will delve into the many facets of indoor and outdoor recreation and learn the benefits of having a well-rounded, healthy lifestyle. This very active class entails movement, exercise, and fun in various forms of recreational activities. Participants are expected to participate in all class activities throughout the duration of the course.

GPS 1110 Academic Fitness

College: a vastly different experience than what most people imagine. This one-credit course will offer you the opportunity to take stock of your academic skills while investigating your past/present strengths and challenges. GPS 1110 Academic Fitness Pathways

A new, highly recommended 1-credit course, designed for students who have compeled their GPS 3-credit requirement, transfer students, or students with con-current and extended studies credit from high school. Course provides additional academic, social, career, and professional support via curriculum desgined to provide students experential learning opportunities. Students in this class will we receive mentorship and scholarship support, micro-credentialing opportunities, ePortfolio peparation, finacial aid direction, career exploration and preparation, and more.

Create A Meaningful Life

In this course you will learn what it means to be a student at UCCS and how to be academically, personally, and professionally successful. You will learn more about yourself to create a meaningful life and a meaningful experience while at UCCS. you will be engaged in a series of assessments and activities over the course of the semester so that, by the end of the semester, you'll be able to answer the questions: "who am I," "where do I come from," "where do I want to go," "what do I want to do," "what is my purpose," and "what is a meaningful life?"

March Madness

College admittance is a marker of success, but as basketball legend Michael Jordan noted: "Success doesn't stop when you get there." This course will utilize a variety of basketball-related things to stimulate your pursuit of academic, professional, and personal goals. No basketball knowledge or experience required as we explore concepts of effective leadership, organizational skills, and event planning. The two worlds of basketball success and academic achievement collide into March Madness

This in-person course focuses on building and developing skills that contribute to academic success and reflect what potential employers “want” from college students. Participating in this course involves experiencing the origins of the workplace through role immersion gameplay, emerging trends through interaction with visiting faculty and area business professionals, and service-learning opportunities.

Explore the intersection of Nursing and the transition into college life at UCCS. Join us as we learn about the healthcare field with guest speakers, a tour of the Simulation center, and the UCCS cadaver lab!
