- Research to expand knowledge and improve practices that affect students’ access and success in postsecondary education.
- Innovative programs , guided by research, that present practical approaches to access and attainment among underserved students and adult learners.

- Pew Charitable Trusts- Education - The partners of the Trusts' Education program tend to be state and national child advocacy organizations with a focus on preschool for all 3- and 4-year-olds; research universities; and groups representing important constituencies in the prekindergarten policy arena, such as business, health, law enforcement and K-12 education. We develop our working partnerships in ways that make clear our mutual agreements and the individual activities for which each member is responsible. Our partners share our goals and have the expertise and ability to achieve timely, meaningful results in a complex and changing policy environment.
We welcome inquiries from potential partners who share our desire to ensure that all 3- and 4- year-olds have access to high-quality prekindergarten education. - Susan K. Urahn has directed two programs since arriving at the Trusts in 1994: Planning and Evaluation, where she was instrumental in implementing strategy development and program design throughout the Trusts' work and; since 2000, the Education program, where she designed the portfolio in early education. She holds a doctorate in education and previously served as an education analyst with the Minnesota legislature.
